Day 2 in Bora-land: A series of semi-unfortunate events

I'm proud to say that even the local flights of Philippine flagcarrier no longer follows "Filipino time". And I make this statement after almost not getting into my flight for Bora for being 2 mins late of the 45mins-before-boarding policy... thank goodness they still let us in (thanks to Bhey)! Irony of ironies :D Now this was only the beginning of a series of semi-unfortunate events that followed my flight "jinx".

The Series

High Tide... was higher than expected when I got off the boat after arriving in Boracay. Result = sticky sea water smelling jeans even if I rolled it up to my knee so it wont get wet.

Tricycle ride in the rain... from the "back door" of Boracay island where we got off the boat since we couldnt dock on the usual side due to strong waves. Result = a drenched right side on top of the item previous to this.

The Internet Cafe... was the first place we went to the morning of Saturday. This is not exactly unfortunate but it was kinda sad that the first thing we did after arriving in this wonderful beach getaway was work-related. Result = a blog entry while I was on the island! (Refer to Day 1 in Bora-land).

A school of Jellyfish... decided to pass by while I and Bhey was fish feeding near Crocodile Island. Result = tiny red patches all over and lots of extra bread

An hour of waiting for lunch... in a karinderia at Puka Beach where there wasnt any poeple besides us. Result = twice as hungry and no more time to lounge at the beach

A Sandstorm... blasted through the Boracay coast
when winds picked up early Sunday night as we searched for a nice place to dine. Result = sandblasted legs and an in-room dinner of Andoks fried chicken

Next Ep... What made it all worth it. And finally, pictures frim the island getaway...

Day 1 in Bora-land: A Steal of a Deal to Paradise

As if I had some unknown jinx, I had some trouble with yet another flight, this time on our way to Boracay. Thankfully all this "jinx" has done is rattle me (very unnecessary though of course). Right now I blog with the white sand shores of this wonderful island just a few meters away :)

It's tried and tested: go to Bora just a few weeks before peak season and you'll find the best combination of great tour deals (travel + lodging) and a wonderful beach experience. At only 5000+ per head c/o PAL for 3 nights, this package was a steal! Escondido may not be beach front, but its Station 1 and the walk isnt that bad (less than 10mins to D' Mall). Combine this with the serenity of not having a packed beach and you are in paradise! No long waits in the best food and drinking places, no packed tiangges, wide walkways. Small details like these make or break a wonderful vacation. After here, we plan to take a seriously slow walk back to the resort and change into our serious wave-crashing gear and do some serious...um...wave crashing :D
